This easy 45-minute 633-mile loop trail offers stunning views of the park's hydrothermal features, including bubbling mud pots, colorful hot springs, and towering geysers. The trail is well-maintained and mostly flat, making it a great option for families with young children or those looking for a leisurely hike.
The trail begins with a gradual climb through a forest of lodgepole pines and Douglas firs. As you emerge from the trees, you'll be greeted by a breathtaking view of the Biscuit Basin geothermal area. The trail then follows a boardwalk alongside the Firehole River, where you'll see bubbling mud pots, colorful hot springs, and towering geysers. The descent back to the Biscuit Basin boardwalk begins with switchbacks passing by patches of wildflowers and some mountain raspberries. The trail then levels out and follows the Firehole River back to the trailhead. The entire loop trail takes about 45 minutes to complete, but you can easily spend more time exploring the Biscuit Basin geothermal area.
