Extension to File Taxes, Not to Pay
Remember, April 15th is Still the Deadline to Pay
Avoid Penalties and Interest by Paying on Time
The California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) reminds taxpayers that the April 15th deadline to file your 2023 personal income tax return is approaching. While you may have until October 15th to file your return, the deadline to pay any taxes you owe remains April 15th.
To avoid penalties and interest charges, taxpayers should pay the full amount they owe by April 15th. This can be done through the FTB's website or by mail. If you are unable to pay the full amount, you can request an installment plan from the FTB.
Taxpayers who file for an extension to file their return will still need to pay any taxes owed by April 15th. Failure to pay on time will result in penalties and interest charges.
For more information on filing and paying your taxes, visit the FTB's website at www.ftb.ca.gov.
